| Job Description |
To provide product support for a group of related life insurance products in terms of pricing, product development, performance analysis, and reporting. The incumbent will be responsible for developing and maintaining actuarial models for measuring product profitability, pricing, and valuation. The incumbent will provide support for the corporate actuarial and statutory reporting responsibilities, which will include running and reporting of monthly valuation results and assisting in development of the company's annual business plan.
Accountabilities of Position:
„h Apply actuarial principals to the pricing, risk analysis and profitability analysis of the CIBC insurance products. „h Valuation results and analysis are calculated and prepared monthly. „h Information must be collected from various sources within and external to the company, and the results are used in the monthly financial statements. „h Provide support for on going to the Appointed Actuary while ensuring that all required work is completed timely and according to the professional and regulatory standards.
Job complexities/Challenges:
„h Incumbent must work within tight deadlines, especially when completing month end and year-end work. „h Incumbent is expected to gain in depth understanding of the CIBC insurance products, operations, and processes. „h Incumbent must have the ability to move from purely technical to an analytical job. There is an increased responsibility to provide opinions, guidance, and recommendations in conjunction with output delivered.
Business Unit Description: Creditor Insurance is an integral part of the lending offer and is something that should be offered to customers at every opportunity and hear first hand from customers, your fellow employees and CIBC senior management on the importance of Creditor Insurance protection.
Requirements: Competencies: (i.e. skills and knowledge)
„h Completed at least exam 1 and 2 towards the FSA designation and a relevant experience. „h Experience in developing actuarial models using AXIS for a purpose of pricing, valuation, and product profitability measure. „h Developed knowledge of practices, procedures and principles of product management and analysis including actuarial practices and techniques with respect to pricing and valuation liabilities „h Creative skills sufficient to resolve problems identify innovative alternatives or opportunities. „h Strong system skills and experience - desired experience in APL, AXIS, MS „h Excel, MS Access, SQL, and VBA. „h Working knowledge and experience in using relational databases.
